Utopia (06/16/04)

will you take me back to the past
with your guitar
with every pluck and vibration of each string
playing a mighty tune of history
through the callouses of your fingers
when they touch my skin
sing to me the dreams of your heart
the wishes your mouth whispers in your sleep
when you hold me
when i'm away
when you're by yourself inside your bedroom
and the breeze howls against your window
what do you see when you close your eyes at night
i see you there
when you grasp the hand of a dying brother
befallen are your eyes

i like the way you look at me
or when you shyly place your arm on my shoulders as we speak
what drew me to you is not what everyone sees
not your eyes that reflect the world all the time
your fascinating smile
dazzling personality
we're both "old souls" and
we know it with similar views of society
as we see it
make a difference
sharing a common path
we're both typical fruits of filipino parents
you'll be a doctor
i, a lawyer,
but rather a writer
of novels, poems,
histories of people, of places, of cultures

i will draw you a portrait of the future
with every shade, line, and scribble
manifesting the past, of present, for the future
opening doors
widening perspectives
shining light
will you come into my life
playing a tune with my guitar
sharing your plans with me
revealing your dreams
lending me your eyes
reading thomas more

to this day
being optimistic as you have asked of me
in shakesperian, latin, spanish
nihongo o wakarimasuka
finding the ways of how to describe how i feel...

you amaze me
